Can't activate manual Immobiliser ?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Can't activate manual Immobiliser ?

Post by 406owner2 »

good day everyone

does anyone know what buttons i need to press to activate the key pad code on my immobilser on my 1996 406, at the moment it is on automatic immobiliser setting, however my ignition key was stolen and i had to get a locksmith to come and break my lock, now the car can be started without a key so want to activate the manual immobiliser keypad so it is at least a bit safer.

i think this is the procedure, if it doesn't work i will report back thanks.

1) Turn on the ignition
2) Enter the code 1111
3) hit the C button
4) enter the new pin
5) hit the C button
and the code is confirmed by 4 flashes of the light with 4 beeps.

Now i have taken off the battery and reconnected it, and type numbers randomly on the keypad, now it's permanently on "auto immobilizer" ie not needing the keypad. Is there no way to simlply just activate the keypad ?

Start the engine and while its running pull the connector out of the keypad, job done.

I had to do it on my old 1.9 due to a dodgy wire somewhere on the connector, way too much spaghetti on there to track it down and blindingly simple to disconnect.

thanks but i don't want it to be disconnected i want to use it as an added security measure. at the moment it's on green and starts up every time without entering a code.

I simply want to activate it, ie change from automatic to manual mode, so i can actually use the keypad, Is this not possible ?

In that case I think you'll need to plug the car in to planet to re-activate the keypad.
I very much doubt there is a code you can punch into the keypad to over ride anything as it wouldn't be a very secure system.

Why don't you see if your local breaker has an ignition barrel, key and drivers door lock as presumably you can't lock the car either with no key.
