Top links and ARB links

Post by Madmas »

Just thought I’d drop a note on how this went !

Changed the front ARB links couple of months ago. This went well apart from one nut that would not undo, so I cut this off with a grinder. Both sides probably took 2 ½ hours.

Rear end just done. First attempt. Started to undo the nuts on both ARB link and track control arm ball joints, but all started to turn the bolt(?). Gave up. :( Back here, re-read as much as could. :cheesy: Took someones advice and went back like a gorilla and mullered the rubbers. Got mole grips on where I could and then with the ARB links hammer and chisel to break the plastic to reveal the bottom ball, then mole grips. Top then just pulled(twisted) off to reveal balls.
Second side ARB link, the eccentric bolt although turning would not come out of the seating, so had to cut through with angle grinder (interesting thru lack of space and a rubber pipe close by), then still could not remove the link cos with the bolt still in I could not get the angle, back to the grinder. All probably took me 5 hous for both sides of the rear.

Back end now feels better and with no noises…..which now means….. I can here clonking from the front again! So, front ARB links done so what could it be? Also front left feels as if you are driving over something each revolution of the wheel, what could this be?

Regards
Madmas.

I would check for an out of shape tyre.... best to jack it up and make it safe with an axle stand, then spin the wheel, and with a thin glove on you might be able to
feel or even see a bulge......... ?
My other Peugeot was a D4B
