alarm fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Isn't there a button between the front seats which disables the sonic sensors.

Sorry if you already know this, but you don't arm the system from that switch. It's used to disarm the interior sensors before leaving the car (in case pets (or the kids  ) are left inside)
To do this, you switch off ignition and before a 45 second window has elapsed, press and hold the button down until the led goes solid red. Leave and lock/arm the car as normal and the protection will be on the openings only, not inside.

I believe one press of the lock button activates the deadlocks, 2 presses disables the deadlocks but activates the alarm...

I may be wrong, try it with the window down and opening drivers door from the inside handle.
