Immobilser Question

As I've mentioned before, I've had to punch the code into the immobiliser keypad and then unplug said keypad as the wires were broken

And also that the main "big" button on my remote fell out (the acutal switch bit)

To cut a long story short I'm having a new kitchen fitted and found the button switch thingy

So I popped it into the remote and bingo - when pressed the car unlocked, to I pressed it again and was about to hit the deadlock button when I had a nasty thought

Once the deadlock button was pressed would the car re start or would I need to get the wires out on the immobilier and pray

Suffice to say I've started the car and then just locked it with the key in the lock.

But does anyone know what would happen if I decided to use the remote? It is true to say that when I lock the car I leave the key turned until I hear the "thunk" of the dead locks kick in, but when you use the remote to lock the car the hazzard lights flash too - which doesn't happen when you use the key.

Anyone know? Cos I'd hate to stuff things up when I've just had the 406 serviced (£400 quid: 4xTyres, Rear brake shoes, calipers, PAS fix etc etc). She needs to last until June!

When you hit the deadlock button, the immobiliser would probably kick in again, yeah

BUT, when the keyfob button is used to unlock the car, the immobiliser is deactivated for 30(?) seconds

if you have disconnected the keypad, then the immobiliser will never kick in, unless you plug the keypad back in, the remote has no control over the immobiliser

you are correct about the deadlocks with the key, just turn the key in the lock untill you hear it lock twice, the indicators will only come on (but dont flash) when you lock the 'ordinary locks' if you activate the deadlocks then they will go out straight away
