Look here what happens when you Shampoo Wet & Vac your Carpeted Mats on a Saturday Morning and leave to dry in the Sun.

The secret to the stripes is covered by the sensitive car forums informations act 2015 and as such must not be spoken about ever again.

When you've finished the wet Vacuuming and very little water is being lifted from the surface you need to go and get an old Credit Card (or Shell Members Card). Then and only then, and making sure none of your neighbours are watching, you take the card and using the short end you do apply pressure to the Car Mat and you do drag the card along to lift the fibres. Then you do drag the card the OTHER WAY and repeat until you have reached the other side of the mat. Stand back, light your pipe and admire your handy work.

Is there another special secret that nobody ( and I mean NOBODY ) knows, apart from you of course, as I wish to have my stripes going from left to right.

Do I need to borrow your top-secret mefod to make my 6 year old but brand new mats stripey, then turn them sideways?

Do I need to have any kind of protection before tackling such extreme cleaning?

Lastly, I only have an Argos store card to create the stripes, will this be sufficient or do I need to be fleeced by Shell by being promised 'savings' on already overpriced fuel, to obtain the correct stripage equipment..

I don't like pipes, can I use Werthers Originals as my reward of choice?

Ginger I tried the stripes the other way and my passengers complained of travel sickness so I personally cannot recommend straying from the accepted norm but it is possible to those wishing to risk it.

I would recommend using Knee Pads and cut level 3 Gloves as minimum PPE for the job. I was kneeling on my Patio, bent over the mats rubbing furiously at them with the head. I felt conscious of exposing my bottom crack to the lady at the bottom of my Garden so regularly hotched-up by jeans out of courtesy.

There has been problems using Argos Cards as the stripes don't come with an extended warranty due to wear and tear issues with the carpet manufacturers. Similarly you can't use your National Insurance card due to the European Working Time Directive.
