noise when engine starts and stops

When I start my car the engine makes a clunking sound then starts normally. The same similar sound happens when I turn off the engine. The car has just passed the MOT.

Any advice on what it may be would be appreciated

Loose exhaust pipe clunking against one of its hangers, or possibly the engine/gearbox mount starting to wear a bit?

sounds exactly like mine. rear engine mount allows a lotof movement and the exhaust bangs on startup and shut down..

Thanks guys for the info, will put it on ramps and see what's happening. It did cross my mind it may be an engine mount.
