Got a bargain of deal on this car but the wife drives it most as i got another car or 2 but she loves it !
anyway like some advice on this car as bought without doing any research etc etc its a 1.8 lx on an "N" plate got slight problem although does not wffect drive the rev counter appears to have a mind of its own and also it seems to be wrong i.e its petrol and redlines at 5000rpm personelly i would have thought that would have been a diesel but cannot confirm hoping someone here can please? If i drive hard the needle goes right off the counter when it decides to work
Other than that its got usual prob with remote keyfob but sent mrs to maplins to get couple of batterys and will try reprogramming it, can someone confirm that all i need to do is (rf type i believe) is turn on ignition and hold big button for 10secs? is there anything else i need to do and whats the little button for?
Greetings , not sure but the rev counter prob could be a dry joint on the circuit board working now and then or could be the bsi playing up ( believe it controls all your dash functions ) - hopefully not as quite expensive. The little button on the fob is for deadlocking the doors and priming the alarm, and if memory serves me right then yes that is the procedure for syncing the keys but i think you have to make sure it's the primary fob ( little pri sticker inside the case ) that you sync first.
Loads of ppl on here will be able to say yay or nay to what i've just wrote - Jameslxdt is a font of knowledge of all pug things so await his reply

This what i was thinking any ideas what a 1.8lx speado should go up to as i dont think my speado has been changed just the rev counter if possible? and any one got a 1.8lx and would'nt mind taking quick pic of dash cluster just so i can compare
I will have a look at mine and let you know as I have same model and year.
One thing with the keys, you need one in the ignition, turned so your elecrics come on, then you need to hold the key up to your interior light then press your big button then the small one.

Just done this myself so know it works
thanks for having a look when you can
What the reason for holding up to interior light as i dont think my key is infa red?
never mind just put new batterys in and worked straight away not programming needed but little button does not seem to do anythng and i still need to press pin into keypad i thought the remote locking disabled this unless you take to long to insertkey and turn on ignition?
You need to set your immobiliser to go off with the key. Cant remember what you have to do but you have to enter a code that is in the user manual, someting to do with the C button.
Was told u have to hold the key 10cm away from your interior light in order to program it. Having a go at programming might sort out u deadlock button, or this could just be a faulty button or a dry connection.
My rev counter goes up to 8000. Can take a pic if u want 2 see 1. Actually saw just the pcb and the dials going cheap on ebay the other day so its worth looking on there.

Would be very gratefull if you could post a pic of clocks then can check speedo aswell
Only problem with holding key away is only got 1 key
but has anyone got anymore info on disabling immobiliser by entering code?
u need to turn your ignition to the on position
then enter your code then within 10 seconds
u need to press C1C it should beep at u
then i think u need to press 1 of the big buttons
on 1 key should beep at u about 3 times
then press other key button should beep 4 times.
