I have a problem with the idle speed on my 406 (1.9 XUDT, Bosch fuel system). It is a little too high and I can't seem to adjust it. The only clue I have is when the car is at high altitude (I was up a mountain in Norway a couple of years back) the idle speed drops.
Any ideas?

Re: Fast idle
Check the cable from the thermostat is not pulling the fast idle on when it shouldn't.
Check the pivot point where the cable fits is free and check the throttle cable isn't set too tight.

It seems the fast idle operates unless the cable from the thermostat is tensioned. I can put molegrips on the cable and release the tension to make the idle drop but that's not a long term solution, obviously. Will have to investigate further.....
