hi folks ...first post ..eh morning to you all . my car 406 lx 2.0 i think DOH!!!
im having real problems with it just now .ittll run fine and then the engine mang light will come on and starts to pull back .if your on the motorway its fine but in the town it can be a real pain .Sometimes if your sitting at the lights it will just cuts out .Ive noticed when the light comes on theres a real rich smell of fuel . Not knowing a great deal about the workings of the engine (i kinda gor lost after induction compresion power and exhaust ) i would imagine the smell is because the fuel aint burning properly or to rich doh !. Staring it can be a problem as well seems to take a bit of going .ive been looking at the old posts on this to see if theres any similar complaints...what about the MAP sencer ...is that neer the throttle box ?....could it be the problem ?I had a similar prob with a calibra i had years ago ...garage kept changing the lamb...eh ..lambi...eh oxygen sencer ...but it never solved the problem so im a bit reluctent to shell out cash for a bit of "research and development "with them . Any help would be appreciated
does it just cut out at idle? as this is most likely the stepper motor
but the stepper motor wont put the engine management light on, theres only 4 things that will put the light on, the tdc sensor, the oxygen sensor, the map sensor and the coolant temperature sensor, as the light has been on there will be faults stored in the engine ecu, you need to get these read before you can really go any further, most garages will be able to do this for you relatively cheaply

thanks james for getting back to me .....yep it does cut out at idle ...not all the time .and another thing i ment to ad sometimes when you start it itll rev up itself like you were "bliping" the throttle and then just settles down
