just wanted to say ......

Post by tyreburner »

hello

Well yesterday i bought a 405 executive turbo its a 98 r plate, needs some stuff doing to it, pass fog light needs re-fitting (think it had a fight with a sheep or grouse!!) its still there and still works just inside front bumper ,has loads of scuffs and scratches, wants a new stalk for the wipers as the button keeps popping out the end when i turn the auto thing on!! the centre section has "detached" from the back box and is blowing from the other join aswell :| taxed and tested till the end of may, the remote locks the car then unlocks it immediatly - however on a 306 xsi i owned there was a thing to do with under the back seat where the c/locking module was you could do something with some earths and fix it ( but i didnt find out till i had hacked ALL the wires in door loom off and tried rejoining (and i mean ALL!!!) , have owned it 24hours and already triggered the airbag light removing the hands free that was in ! (will search to see if it can be reset l8r)
but as it was only 400 notes and 15 miles away i aint grumbling

Well thats the car now me i suppose, i am a forum slag :cheesy: well sort of i always join a forum when i get a car and then end up selling it, (started my current job in september and am onto my 12th parking permit!!) but hopefully i have found a long term project that i will KEEP as i cant beleive how much better than a 405 this car is!

I dont get on the net as much as i would like due to my job but as am starting a new job after easter with sundays off and 7-6 as my hours i may get time to annoy you all and ask for endless help (if you have read this post you will already have an idea of my "skills".... but i am willing!) and bore you silly speaking of which i will end this post now :P

b4 i go though is 4 of 6 real??? or is it someone who spends 24/7 on the net?????

Cheers
Mick
p.s can someone tell me above the climate panel is a screen and all this screen shows is the temperature in one corner is the whole screen solely for this or is some info missing?
there HAS to be a cheaper way!!!

strange, never new they made the 405 up to 1998 and with a turbo engine, seems quite unique

Yeah I'm assuming you mean a 406? Welcome to the site buddy! (even if you are a forum slag  )

I agree with James, an exec of any condition is worth £400 even just as spares, so to one find one that is T+T sounds like a good find to me!

Coming Soon(TM) is going to be a nice guide with pictures on this... Soon... Real soon... *AHEM*

The trip computer is housed in the display unit, but on the exec, the French decided it'd be too much effort to add a couple of extra wires to the looms so it just sits there unused. The display is however also used for the OEM stereo, which comes as standard with a CD changer hidden (bloody well if you don't know it's there!) in the boot. You may be lucky and have the changer still there, think they're worth a few bob on ebay :)

If you think you might be interested in retro-fitting the trip computer wiring, you'll want to acquire a wiper stalk with the trip computer button on the end if you've got a saloon (the estate has a rear wiper, and there's no stalk with rear wiper, auto front wipers, and trip computer button)

Avoid Kwik-fit for your eggsauce. They don't appear to have the exec turbo in their books so the monkeys will guess at the bits they *think* will fit.

With your locking stuff, try giving all the door buttons (front edge of the door, somewhere between the hinges) a good work-out
