Obd / obd2 port

Hi guys, I have a 2001 hdi 90 bosh 406.

Do these cars use obd2 for scanners/ diagnostic checking etc or is it the like of PP2000 used for this as obd doesn't talk to them?

Hi.

Some of the cheaper scanners will only read the engine ECU.

The more expensive ones will read most of the ECUs ( snap-on etc )

However if you want to properly delve into all of the ECUs, and check parameters, create replacement keys, and basically do everything the Peugeot main stealer can do, then you'll need PP2K

It's not expensive to buy nowadays, and with a cheap laptop that can just rattle around in the boot, you'll be sorted for a while - plus you can help out other members with any issues too

But just to confirm, obd2 scanners do talk to the 406 's OK?

Yes, although can be a bit hit and miss...

If you access to a better quality code reader then you may get more luck.
