Happy Birthday...

Post by Blue406 »

...........Dear Bessy

Yes, my 6 turned 11 today. First registered on the 15th of April 1996. (5 days after my sweet 16th!)

She may be starting to fade a little and things seem to be on the verge of a big failure, but she's done me sterling service in the 5 years I've had her (incidentally, the 5th anniversary of my getting the keys is in July)

Happy Birthday Bessy :)

Here she is the week I got her:

And last week:

And this is my favorite photo of my trusty 6. Now that I have a better camera, I'm gonna try and reproduce this shot.

I've given her a good clean today but the weathers not all that good for photos now :(

EDIT:
Just brightened up enough to get some ok-ish photos. The front still bears evidence/scars of the little argument I had with a 106 in the Summer of 2002, only 3 months after I got her :(

I only just noticed, there are no shots of my interior here on 406oc. Well, lets remedy that with two quick shots. I've still to remove the DVD system, thats still in place from the 300 mile round trip to Aberdeen and back on Wednesday.

And my not so original D8 front office:

the photos somehow give the impression she's mint.
I'll be honest.. the paintwork looks like the cars been sat in a kindergarten playground for a week.

The photo was taken in North Queensferry, Fife. the bridge you see is the Forth Road Bridge which spans the Firth of Forth.

LOL

I take as much care as I can of my interior. Afterall, its the thing I see most of my car.
My Dad was a stickler for keeping his Car mint. And when he drove trucks and buses, they too were kept mint, often returning to the Depot looking far better than they did when he was assigned them.

I'm like that too. If I have a hire car or courtesy car, its always fully cleaned and shined when I give it back.

The fact I still smile when I see my car and drive it also helps keep the will to make the effort up :)

Happy Birthday. She looks brilliant - much better than most cars that age! Keep taking care of her and she'll keep on going :)

Just noticed a mod I haven't seen before.. on the bootlid. Where did you manage to get the logo and the logoless lock? Not sure about the logoless lock, but I like the lion making its presence :)

the hoooge rarr (I call it that as its a lion raoring... Rarr ;) ) from Ebay a few years ago, bout 2004 maybe.

The bootlock is actually what came with the car, I just put some black paint on it that was given to me from the Naval dockyard (ie its good stuff that will last longer than the car!) It was supposed to look like the rub strips on the bumper, but something went wrong... think we applied it when the temp was too low.

I never go to Scotland without having a rest break in North Queensferry to bask in the presence of the bridge, only problem is you've snapped the wrong bridge mate! Next time you're up there point the camera in the other direction and take a photo of your 6 with the REAL Forth Bridge.

Sorry, closet "history of engineering" fan. I've got this on my living room wall. 8)
