Hi
I have decided to investigate my 406' rear drums as they squeal ocassionally. I have removed the wheel and retaining screws on the hub, but am unable to remove the drum. I have looked at the handbrake adjustment but there seems to be nothing to loosen it more than just taking the handbrake off. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it as I am unable to get the drums off at the moment.
Thanks
Danny

When i take drums off before i normally end up just using a big hammer (or two) and lever bar. Basically the shoes wear a groove into the drum and sit it to it. So you have to work the drum off bit by bit.
Claw hammer behind the drum and hitting that with a big hammer has worked before.
I would be tempted to buy a new set of shoes before taking the drums off. if your going to the effort of getting in there you may aswell replace the shoes. Also theres a risk of damaging the shoes taking the drum off.

Thanks for the reassurance, I didn't want to take the sledge approach until I knew for definite that there wasn't something else I needed to do.
Will try it in the morning.
