ECU remap

Post by kezz_2002 »

Has anyone ever had their ecu re mapped on the 406? and is it worth it to get quicker acceleration?

I had my 406 HDi remapped last year. Cost me £300 and i think worth every penny.

Personally i would avoid these dodgy tuning boxes like the plague as i think all they do is put more fuel through the system at all rev ranges where a decent custom remap will adjust boost and fuelling so it only dump more fuel through when needed. I also npw get 2-3 mpg more than i did before.

Different places advertise anything from 10-40% increase in power and torque depending on the engine. Although if you are remapping a non turbo'd car the gains are lower and may not be worth the cash.

It is worth it for turbo deisel/petrol engines not much gain in performance or mpg for standard engines.
