you need to remove the driveshaft which is a hell of a lot easier on the near side thankfully, you then need to remove the CV outer joint from the driveshaft to fit the new boot, the haynes manual covers it in quite a lot of detail

first of all thnx for your help james much apprietiated.......
second problem .......
went to adjust the so called self adjuster inside the rear drum cos handbrake wasnt working properly
then i discovered why hand brake wasnt working properly
nearside wheel cylinder seaping onto shoes..... but not bad enough to show without opening up the drum
i had no idea this was happening except the crap handbrake....
so opened up offside and it was dry...... all i did was touch the shoes and poof leaking seal on this side too.....buger....
so mot is now cancelled until later this week and new parts arriving mon morning
set of shoes £30.00
wheel cylinders X2 £36.00
total £66.00 + VAT
and still need to put through MOT ant thats costing me £45.00
i'm not impressed

hi sriturbo,
went for the seal kits and you can no longer buy them you have to buy the full cylinder..
got the parts today and new revised price to ......
£90.00 inc vat but he did throw in a free tub of brake fluid .......mmmmmm generous bloke lmao could have sold me parts at cost price too instead of adding the bloody vat

M.O.T. today......after the above work done, it failed
he gave the nearside front disc an advisory notice and failed the offside disc both for pitting and reduced braking effect
why give an advisory for a disc when you have to change both anyway ????
cant see the logic seeing i gotta change both as one failed .. any info as to why he would do this
