hi here to try and solve heater probs on my 1.9td

Post by R0B »

hi,

i am normally found on a clio forum and a few old bmx forums.

had the pug for just over a year now no faults till now, well apart from the fuel flap  i wedge the ciggy lighter under the lever when i need to fill up.

but the heating has packed in and its been quite cold lately, blower works fine but i dont get heat till car is fully up to temp but no where near as hot as it once was....

i was told to remove the thermostat for a day to see if it helps but it made it worse as the car didnt get to normal temp (90) on the 40 mile drive to work it stayed on 70... so going to buy a new thermostat on payday.

it has been suggested that the aircon is permenatly on and to remove the fuse for the aircon to test this idea

but i think it would be the heater matrix thats shot.

i also have a buzzing noise coming from the top of the heater motor behind the glovebox.

thanks
rob

Hi there, welcome aboard. The air con works as a dehumidifier when the heater's on anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. I suppose the first thing to look at is are both the hoses to and from the heater getting hot. You could try bleeding the system, or failing that flushing it. There's a cabin temp. sensor up near the interior light, anyone know what happens if it goes pop?

It's an epidemic! Does the forum get a similar number of "my fans don't work" posts in the spring?
