How do fellas.

Post by ODBFrost »

Hey hello how ya doin?, been meaning to say hello, but due to finding out im going to be dad for the 1st time, my world has gone tits up! my names Liam and im 28, i live in stockport, cheshire, i drive forkilfts, love fishin, messin around at driving ranges, fast food and my PUG! im currently on my 2nd 406 which is a 1998 s plate turbo exec in dk. met. blue with 100k on the dial, was up for £1800 and i got her for £1400 due to needing a backbox :) it had lots of history and just had the gearbox oil replaced, the cam belt done, major service, the powersteering rack and a new alternator lol so good piece of mind for me, it drives superb, not 1 knock rattle or bang, no smoke, just thirsty! was owned by 2 ladies and had all its work done by pug themselves, bargain! My 1st was also a 1998 s plate, 2.0 16v glx,not much in the power department but it had all the other bits, sadly she was stolen through the night and never seen again, insurance paid out so i opted for another 406. I absoloutley love my turb and happy to say, theres no going back! I think shes runnin around about 200 horses give or take, and thats going off pushing a o4 plate civic type R to 140 and then rolling by off the clock with a grin and a cheeky wave! ive done it the old fashioned way, put a £15 bleed valve on and wound it out one whole turn, but my m8s gonna be sorting out a re-map and rolling road setup for me, and ive been told she could be doing around 225 horses, possibly a bit more, its got a pipercross cone filter soon to be replaced by a ram-air cone, atmospheric diaphram DV, i agree no need, but hey, you gotta love the sound air can make at the right tone, plus it turns heads cos alot of people dont even know peugeot make petrol turbos, so, bonus at meets n cruz's really :) its got all standard internal speakers but ive decided to change the head unit for a jvc mp3 which i had lying around, and it sounds AWESOME! alot boomier than the original head unit that i thought was very good anyway, just got sick of going in the boot to change cd's all the time, alot easier now, apart from those little bits of pointless information thats it, thats me! :) glad to be here anyway hope to be chattin to you all at a meet sometime? maybe? i dunno, take it eze guyz. ;)

How do!

Be carefull fella as a modded turbo engine likes to spit the dummy out in the following order:

Turbo umpteen times (heat)
Head Gasket after most 'races'
Intercooler eventually

150BHP standard, 200 very hard to achieve on standard internals, 180 OK and reliable enough.

Main thing is fuelling (or lack of) and stronger internals. The Turbo engine was developed for extra Torque and is best left fairly standard without major investment from it's owner.

Plenty on here know what I mean, some would disagree :?

Welcome BTW,

Welly.

no worries, same with any turbo engine, ive been present in an evo 6 dying and a fiesta rs turbo due to melting the head, i love mine too much to take it up to the red, the 200 marks a rough estimate but if i can pass a type R and keep up nose to nose with a renault megane 225 then i think thats very satisfying, as for racing, i dont bother, i dont wanna roast it, i just build it up most of the time, your right about lack of fuel too, another reason why i cant kill it off the line, the K light comes on if i do tellin me WHOAAAAA! ive had the car over a year and it still runs the same, temps never above 80 on the oil and the waters always well within the 1/4 mark, never let me down in anyway. if i was daft it would be dead already, so dont worry ;) thanks for lookin out though you star you :) hehe.
