p reg 1.9 diesel exuutive estate over revving

hi, im new on this forem, but im active on many ford ones due to ownerning a few fords!

basicly my work horse has started having problems. when idealing it will go stright up to 3000 revs, and only drops when you press the foot brake down!

it happend whilst driving, got it home and sprayed the throttle with some plus gas whiched helped it from stand still, but once you start driving it starts again. also when you put your foot on the brake a yellow engine sign comes up on the instrument panel

Hello fella!

I'm not sure exactly but since pressing the brake makes the revs drop then it sounds like a problem with the vacuum lines/vac pump/air leak not sure how the vac system affects revs on yours but it could be some sort of fast idle for cold starts etc which is playing up when hot?
