Headlamp height adjustment

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Headlamp height adjustment

Post by mjb »

Is it possible to manually adjust the beam of the headlamps? Mine are too high, yet the first lowered setting on the adjuster (by the drivers knee) is too low... Typical...

Alternatively if there's a way to decrease the degree of adjustment given by the drivers knee control, that'd do

There should be a white (I think) plastic socket headed screw on top of the lights for winding them up & down.

(I am so not going outside now with my camera...)

Earwiggy is correct. Just a Phillips screwdriver is all you need

Cheers, found the adjusters and everything's probably good now. Hopefully. Well on 0 they're now somewhere between where 0 and 1 used to be... :D I used a cardboard box dumped on the ground about a foot in front of the car and marked out positions 0 and 1, then adjusted to somewhere in-between (fresh markings for each side of course!)

I saw the white plastic adjusters, but given the amount of crap that'd fallen in there I'd recommend use of an 8mm allen key instead of a screwdriver. Note for anyone searching for this in future - the adjusters are on the back of the light clusters right next to where you put the bulbs in. It doesn't actually look like they'd adjust anything, but they do.

Also note that adjustment is pretty sensitive with a 360 degree turn equating to roughly one click of the drivers knee adjuster.
