Service time.

Post by biglamb »

Right,
Im doing the service on mi bus today. Just a few quickies here for the chaps who know. Ive not done a hdi service before. so no. 1 does the fuel filter self prime.? when ive filled it up with fres derv are screwed it back in, is that it. it will run ok. my passat did. but i know some engines need priming. Also the last owner left me 2 fuel filter inserts. he said he didnt feel confident enough to fit them. and they are both different. he said he didnt know wich one it was so he bought both. (he was a nugget) so one has a perfectly round profile on both sides, and the other on doesnt. No. 2 how much oil does the engine want. Good old 10 40 will be going in. and finally has anyone used a k & n air filter in the hdi before? are they worth the extra mone. im thinking the filter itself not the induction kit. Fast answers would be appreciated here chaps, as im off the the local motor factors soon. cheers

hi lamby , you dont have to even fill the filter bowl after you have inserted
the filter, when you are ready to start the car just turn the key to the on
position 6 times and the in tank pump fills it then just start as normal.
Think i remember a thread on here somewhere about k&n not really
making that much difference considering the cost involved
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

From what I've heard here not that often as the HDi sprays such a fine mist it doesn't need a great deal of pre-heating.
