this is one of the reason i din't get a 406 v6 coupe. i am not paying over £400 a year for tax.

Only left 1 year window to get the 210bhp version and not get raped for road tax.

kind of anoys me i could do 30k+ in a hdi for £200 a year but to do ~5k a year in something a bit more fun you get raped. even thou you'll put about 25% of the co2 you did before!

I agree, the road tax you pay has got feck all to do with the damage you are doing as everyone with the same emissions pays the same no matter what mileage you do.

It's just another money making scam so the powers that be can pay lip service to the hippies and rip us off more

Everything I've read says the earlier V6 is actually quicker despite having a few less horses. Loses out on the top end by a couple of mph, but gets there quicker :D TBH I've not even managed to hit the top end of mine yet. They don't make roads long, straight and empty enough ;)

1) There's often coppers on it. In the daytime there's also camera vans perched on the bridges overhead
2) It's not a straight road at all. Or flat come to think of it
3) There's a HUGE difference between the top speed of the turbo and the V6. 20mph may not sound like much but the handling changes dramatically at that speed and you require much more forward visibility to drive safely. The turbo's top speed of 130mph(*) is about the speed at which the 406s aerodynamics start to behave differently
4) There must be something wrong with your 406 - it'd be illegal to top it out on the M6 toll if your car were capable of doing over 70mph...

(*) Actual speed, not what's shown on the speedo
