The coupe and cc are up for their biggest challenge
We're expecting our first baby in December. Thought as we're both 30, we'd better start growing up, but we thought the practicing may have taken a little longer!
So the family motors consist of a 406 coupe and 206cc.
I thought of changing for a Mondeo or Vectra, but as things stand, we're going to give it a go with the current cars.
If all else fails, by this time next year, there might be a HDi coupe for sale here!

Well congratulations are in order then
You won't struggle with children/cars until you have 2 young ones requiring two or if not one huge pushchair etc.
My missus brought up a 5 year old an 2 year old (one pushchair required) in a Citroen AX for 2 years and you know what a huge boot the AX has
The biggest issue by FAR is the difficulty bending down into the rear of the car to put said child into the seat etc as this hurts your back and is generally awkward. My missus was OK as she has arms like Arnold Schwartzenbonker and would cheerfully knock you into next week
All the best,
Welly.

The Coupe club has a few members with sprogs. The Coupe is that practical in terms of room, it doesn't seem to pose any issues.
Having said that, I have made a deal with myself that if I were to find someone and be presented with similar good news, the coupe goes. No questions asked.
Anyway... Congratulations mate!

The first family car I can remember was a Fiat Strada. Small but practical. Size isn't everything

Congratulations Neil! You'll never get enough sleep again...
That's a clean Strada, I can't see any rust at all, was it brand new when the pic was taken?

Re: The coupe and cc are up for their biggest challenge
Snap again Darren, the 14th of December going by the dates, but we haven't had a definite date yet. I'll let you know when I get a more accurate date.
The 206 shouldn't be a problem, as Deb will be using it by herself while she's off. The main problem with the coupe is the length of the doors, gonna be a real problem in tight car parks.
We'll just have to suck it and see, but with 9 months of statutory maternity pay, can't really afford to change either of them.
As for the work's 407, the fact that I had to drive to Manchester without any heating control doesn't give me any confidence in Peugeot's electronics.

Congrats Neil! Get the sleep in while you can!

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Oh yes, we haven't slept properly for 7 years! Tell you what though, our youngest is 17 months old and he doesn't sleep though the night, ever! So every night my Mrs gets up in the middle of the night and goes in the spare bed with him, then they get up at about 6 every morning. On top of that she works full time and does most of the housework (I contribute as much as I can but in a blokey way, you know what I mean
). I have no idea how she manages it!!

Re: The coupe and cc are up for their biggest challenge
Couldn't have been more that 2 years old at the time. July-ish, 1985.steve_earwig wrote:Congratulations Neil! You'll never get enough sleep again...

Many congratulations Neil
Like the others say, farewell to sleep and weekend lay-ins!
I'll second Welly, it's only when the second comes along that you start getting strapped for space in the boot!
