Driver seat fault. 90% stopped working...HELP

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Driver seat fault. 90% stopped working...HELP

Post by CoV »

Hey everyone.

Got a right problem here and desperately need to get it fixed before monday as i need the car for work.
Right basically the car is a 406 2.0 HDi Executive estate.

Went to get in the car, put the key in the ignition, turned the key one station and instantly the back of the seat moved back till it was horizontal and the seat moved forward on it own without touching anything.

It will not return to its normal position. The seat is completely dead until the ignition is switched on and im pretty sure the seat should operate without the key in the ignition.

Once the ignition is switched on i looked underneath the seat as i could hear something operating. Off one of what i can only assume are motors one of the pipes flicks and jumps every other second a bit like a hydraulic pipe being pressurised, you can see the movement. The only movement i can get is the front tilt up and down, thats all.

Apart from that the seat is dead and the back of the seat will not lift to normal position also.

Its probably a coinsidence however the night before this occured i stupidly managed to leave my headlights on, therefore flattening the battery, therefore i had to pop the car on charge before i could use the car. First time i tryed to use the car, this seat movement fault occured.

Im totally miffed on this fault, can anyone shed some light on this problem please.

Big thanks in advance.

Paul

Simply disconnecting the battery and reconnecting seems to have cured the fault, ODD.

How strange :? it seems that the memory was lost and the seat motors did not know which position to go too so just defaulted to "flat out" I hope the motors aren't damaged by that clicking noise you had etc.
