High idle followed by Engine management light!

The tick over or idel has been unusually high for a week or so just off it sown accord.

Today the engine management light came on, car totally normal except for idle.

Fiddled with throttle pot connectors to check connections and rotated throttle pot a few times full sweep.

Well idel back to normal ona warm start but engine management light still on.

Would like to find out the code and reset it, are there any D.I.Y. setups to do this?

Does it sound like a worn throttle pot at 125k?

Had the same fault on my 2.1TD.

Turned out to be a faulty coolant sensor.

Engineer reset the fault codes and all back to normal, but got pretty bad before it was fixed.

Well car working fine noweven the idle idle is correct but takes its time to drop to 850rpm.

I would suggest the throttle pot is on its way out at 125k and the engine light came on when a parameter tripped the fault code for excessively high idle speed.

Any suggestions on the best tool to read and reset the engine light and fault code?
