ECU Warning light

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

ECU Warning light

Post by LPC »

I run out of Desel on the way home from Town. I went and got £7 of desiel and put this in the car. I turned the key for about 2-3 seconds and hay presto away she went. I then noticed the ECU light had come on?

I run to the garage and put £50 and hoped this would resolve all my problems but the warning light is still on

Does anyone have any ideas why this is and how to sort? I have been told I just need to get the warning reset? Any advice would be appriciated.

Another satisfied customer  :cheesy:

There's lots of speedo problems, have a quick search. There's a couple about just now that look like the sender on the gearbox (accompanied by loss of power) then again dry joints on the back of the clocks are quite common. Or on earlier cars (2.1 TDs) there's a unit behind the glove box that goes haywire.

Yes, when you run out of fuel it flags the "common rail fuel pressure low" fault - panics, and puts the light on.

Once it's confirmed the new fuel pressure over a few cycles it allows the light to go off - panic over.

Don't know on the speedo - a new guy on here recently (tomcourtney) had this problem and was looking into it but I haven't seen him since :(

I had a problem like that a few years back on my D8. It ended up being the speed sender unit. It might be worth while checking that if it happens a again.
