Hi all,
Having owed this car for 18 months, a couple of things are bugging me (sound familiar?)
Noisy air vents ?!?! Sounds like a tinny rattle coming from them!
Rattley noise near aux belt at 1200- 1250 rpm- happened as soon as belt was replaced ( new tensioner 10 months ago th)
car surges under load ( car is smooth otherwise so is it an induction leak/ problem?)
Steering constantly light. So light your little finger can turn it. Are'nt they variable PAS?
Suppose 123,000 reasons is to blame! Love the car but loathe the niggly problems.
Regards,
Gary

Suppose you could take the dash plastic out and dangle a magnet on a string down? Or take the blower out from under the passenger footwell and throw the magnet-on-a-string around a bit?mozartprodigy wrote:Noisy air vents ?!?! Sounds like a tinny rattle coming from them!
Another thing it could be I guess is one of the plastic flaps could have snapped. Try putting recirc on and off (it takes a good few secs to do it after you press the button) and play with the vent selection stuff, see if any of the controls make the rattle better/worse.
Some models are, most aren't. If you do a search on the forum for 'variable power steering' or something, you might find a post I made about my V6 being too light. Someone replied with a link to a site showing you how you can change the strength of itSteering constantly light. So light your little finger can turn it. Are'nt they variable PAS?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Hi Gary, welcome aboard
Before the days of pollen filters you used to get the odd leaf in the system

tensioner was the first thought. Who did the belt change? Did they leave anything loose? Could even be the belt's too tight.mozartprodigy wrote:Rattley noise near aux belt at 1200- 1250 rpm- happened as soon as belt was replaced ( new tensioner 10 months ago th)
Anything like this?car surges under load ( car is smooth otherwise so is it an induction leak/ problem?)
Some are, some aren't. Probably a daft question but what are your tyre pressures?Steering constantly light. So light your little finger can turn it. Are'nt they variable PAS?

Re: 2.1 dt questions
hi pal
Hi have owned numerous peugeots and citroens over the years and the blower motors on every single one of them has been emmiting a differnet noise at some point.
as for the tensioner noise it is quite possible the belt was too tight and the tensioner is chewing its bearing.
the power steering will just depend on how lucky you are with the pump, you probably have a good one.
and as for the 123,000 on the clock you have a long way to go yet pal mine has clocked nearly 250,000 and still goin strong. the 2.1 is definetly the best engine they put in this car for reliability.
