Feul consumption is shocking

Hey there hope someone has an idea or two, my 2.0 8v 406 estate glx s reg is rotten when it cums to mpg and it doesnt matter if im in the car by myself with no luggage or packed to the gunnels with kids dogs wife n more bags than a ghurka can handle. Is there anything i can do???

What sort of figures are you getting?

and how are you driving? Petrol 406s tend to guzzle petrol under acceleration (in town, etc) due to the immense weight, but are much better on the motorway

A few things to check are:
1. Tyre pressures
2. Air filter
3. Fuel filter (under the body just in front of the offside rear wheelarch)
4. Lift each corner and make sure all 4 wheels can turn freely, that the brakes aren't rubbing
