Hiya Roy, you're welcome :cheesy:

Go out in all this rain, find a quiet bit of road, make sure no-one's behind you and stand on the anchors  You'll soon know if it has ABS  .

You should have a light for it come up on the dash when you first turn the key, it should be fairly easy to spot under the bonnet too - it's the square thing with pipes coming out of it in the bottom rh corner of this pic:

I'd resist forcing your ABS to work - in case you break it

I know of someone with a Honda who thought they'd "check the ABS" and £1,200.00 later it was all fixed nice again

Mind you Honda's ABS was crap a few years ago (got the T shirt) most people removed it all at the first sign of trouble which you're allowed to do if it was an "optional extra" at the time of sale.

To be fair the Pug system never gives us any issues here.

One of the first things I do when getting in an unknown car is test the ABS by stamping on the brakes. Don't care where or what condition the road's in as long as there's nobody behind me. Best to know whether to steer, or steer and brake before you're about to collide with some idiot in the wet...

Plus you don't want to be buying a car with knackered ABS without a *considerable* discount. Give the seller advance warning to brace though
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Thank you Gentlemen.
Dai maybe I should try your idea down the A 470,???? because half the idiots on that road think it's Brands Hatch anyhow.
