Sticky clutch/pedal

Post by kevr84 »

Hi guys.

Just bought a 406 2l GLX. Im taking issues with the clutch pedal being pretty sticky on release. Particularly in 1st gear.. its very jerky and sticky when bringing the pedal back up.. making it quite hard to pull away smoothly!

Does this sound like a problem with pedal, cable or the clutch itself? Goes into all gears etc fine.

Cheers

Hiya mate, welcome :D

What year is your car? Is it a cable clutch or hydraulic? I had a '98 1.8LX and the clutch did the same thing, it was the cable wearing.

Sounds like a rusty clutch cable

Is there a little black 'pot' attached to the back of the engine bay on the drivers side? If so, it's hydraulic otherwise it's cable :)
