D9 Trip Comp Retro-Fit

Post by eoin27 »

I've just installed my new wiper stalk with the trip button and when pressed, it goes through all the features but doesn't give out any figures. I am under the impression that i need to get the BSI configured at the main stealer but what i would like to know is, does anyone know this for sure or did i just waste money on a new wiper stalk? I checked previous trip comp discussions and i don't think anyone could confirm.

The new wiper stalk feels so.....new. Its amazing how 'soft' a stalk gets after 154k

Success!!

After installing the wiper arm, i was able to go through all the trip modes with the new button but no figures appeared on the display.

Drove down to the dealers and blurted out terms like D9, BSI and multiplexed and they quickly got the picture of who they were dealing with.

The guy hooked up the laptop to the car, changed the status of the trip computer from absent to present and Hey Presto! Trip comp!

Heres the good part, I asked him how much i owe him and he said: 'Go on mate you're grand' I said: 'Not good enough' and threw him a tenner for a couple of pints. Job done, one happy customer. I'm glad to get the message out, I couldn't see it confirmed here whether it could be done or not. I'm beaming from ear to ear.

Sure he didn't mean "We'll be invoicing you for a grand"?

Wish I didn't - it's depressing getting a 14mpg average with this engine issue
