you might of been asked this question before but im new so here goes
does the inlet manifold from the 2.0 16v fit straight on the 1.8 and would it make any differance. also does the head fit aswell.

best bet would the the 306 gti 6 inlet and exhaust manifold and cams as the standard inlet and outlet manifold as very restrictive on air flow. And a remap but i have a feeling that ur unable to re map 1.8 16v ECU so getting a gti 6 ecu and a complete remap might be in order. ul also need to fabricate up a new cat pipe as the gti 6 outlet mainfold will push the cat further back

afew ppl have done these mods on the 306 forum

would a 2.0 turbo not drop straight in?

i used to have a 1.8 16v 306, i fitted the exhaust and inlet manifolds... and what a difference it made :) - engine was much more revable and pushed me back in my seat, i have the manifolds for sale still if your interested :)

Excuse my mechanical ineptitude - can someone explain how changing the inlet manifolds and exhaust produces more power?

Is this likely to cause any problems (i.e. intaking warm air into the engine)?

I kinda regret asking about performance air filters now, as I feel a bit "Max Power" / Boy Racer / Chav, having seen all the negative responses :cheesy: (note - I have never read Max Power - though I like cars, I'm not one of THEM, the ones that delight in spending thousands bolting silly add-ons to a bloody Vauxhall Nova 1.2 to make it look the dogs danglies) - so please be nice :cheesy:

i never had any problems with mine, the exhaust manifold allowed the engine to get rid of gasses quicker, and the inlet manifold, along with throttle body, fuel rail with regulator, and air filter to suit, i jut found it to rapidly increase the power

It's all about breathing. It used to be 4-2-1 tubular manifolds when I was interested, much less restrictive than a lump of cast iron. I also once ground out the ports on a 1.6 Avenger head, enough extra flow to push it over the ton (wow! :lol: )

I'm not sure where it would get warm air from but that wouldn't be desirable, that's why our engine's air supply comes from under the wheel arch (slurp slurp), rather than under the bonnet.

Performance air filters are perfectly ok if you plan to rebuild your engine on a regular basis.
