servicing at 60k
I have recently bought a rapier it's got a good service history with it and infact i had a 406 this time last year and had to let it go when the diesel price soared, but i missed the car much it's felt like a family death loosing the car but i have now been able to get another one, but i cannot remember a year on what get done for the service it's at 63000 miles. Can someone advise me please it's the hdi90
Re: servicing at 60k
I did mine at 62,000 miles, (due at 60,000) I replaced all the filters and changed the engine oil, fitted a new timing belt full kit, including the alternator belt, I know it was early to do the timing belt, but I never wait until they are due.I checked all the brakes and adjusted the handbrake.
Replaced the front tyres, as well as changing the full exhaust.
I replace all the filters every service. (every 10,000). Ours is overdue its 80,000 mile service (83,000 on the clock).Due a brake fluid change and some mot advisories.

Changed the exhaust at 60k?? My exhaust is going strong after 156k. What was wrong with it at that mileage?jasper5 wrote:as well as changing the full exhaust.

Where the joint is at the back with the clamp around it....both sides of the joint had corroded into lots of holes, so I changed it before it fell off.

When I changed my saloon's exhaust at 100k there was virtually nothing left of the back box. There were holes (yes, plural) in it you could fit a clenched fist througheoin27 wrote:Changed the exhaust at 60k?? My exhaust is going strong after 156k. <steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

HI,
The flexi joints fail frequently on the cabs here with loads of gearchanges and engine rocking etc (bottom engine mounts suffer also and need to kept on top of which helps lessen the rocking engine and minimises the stress on the flexi) but the rest of the system lasts well as they tend to be kept warm all the time.
I understand that 'just' the flexis are available from someone as the cat is usually attached. You will need to be a good welder to do this however.
The good news is that recent precious metal price drops have made aftermarket cats much cheaper of late if you want to go down that route. Try the wholesalers/manufacturers first like CES Chester exhausts 01244 379279 or www.cesuk.com/ who are very keen on prices.

That's exactly what went wrong with mine - the engine was moving so much it tore through the flexi and with the CAT attached it was expensivebangernom1cs wrote:Flexi joints, engine mounts etc...T

In fact I shall be making a big deal out of the fact that these things have been put right to any prospective buyers

"cat". It's an abbreviation, not an acronymWelton wrote:CAT
