Even weirder elec problem??

Im having problems with a 406 w reg 2000 16v,connect the battery and all dash lights come on before i put key in,leave it 50 to 60 seconds and they go out,turn ign on and start car no speedo,rev counter,fuel gauge or temp gauge,trip and milometer read 0000 and 000000,HELP.. :

Sounds like water in the connectors in the drivers footwell; whip up the carpet & check for any corrosion on the connectors. Also have a search on "bsi reset"

It sounds like it could be a toasted BSI, but I'd definitely try the reset procedure and check the condition of the battery first

Is there any dampness in the footwell?

Why did you disconnect the battery, and was it ok before you did?

I disconnected the battery to stop it going flat because everything stayed on and i did,nt want it to go flat,battery is fine,runs and drives ok..

Have a flick through the recent post in the electrical section; just recently there was a similar post with links to all the places to check. Do check the connectors in the drivers footwell, you'll see photos of the potential problems in that post!
