When doing any work on the braking system and you get a leak, get a section of thick plastic bag and place it under the resevoir cap. This will create a vaccum

The brass coloured stud that lives by your jack makes it easy to refit wheels. Just screw it into the top wheelnut hole then slide the alloy on over the top of it.
A spider wrench/wheel brace makes tightening/removing wheel nuts so much easier, especially the early D8 locking nuts which have keys that like to jump out of the nuts at any opportunity
Buy a replacement before trying to remove the courtesy light on a '96- early '98 D8.
Buy replacement screws before attempting to remove the wheelarch lining
Make sure you have zip ties and a drill to hand when removing the engine undertray.
Jack the nearside up as high as possible when bleeding a D9 clutch and keep the fluid level at the point of overflowing

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
