gauge to the left............

hi all, can any one tell me what this gauge does?(no not the rev counter, ) and is it ok to drive when its on?

engine off it lights up,

after 10 seconds(with engine running) it goes to off and the light goes out,

That's the oil level gauge. When you turn the ignition on, it lets you know how much engine oil there is. With yours being at the level it is, I'd be looking to top it up a bit. It is designed to come on for a few seconds on ignition, and then turn off so there's no need to worry about the gauge. Perfectly fine to drive when it's on.

And take its readings with a pinch of salt!!

No it's an engine thing rather than D8/D9. It doubles as oil temp on the D8 V6 and a few diesels too I think.

Really could have done with it being on the tubby too...

funny you should say about the oil ,its on the min on the dip stick,,thanks again.

i always thought it was to do with the glow plugs
