Central locking problem.

Hi all, my first post on here Just bought a 2002 406 HDI Rapier, the central locking aint working right & wonder if any of you fella's can shed some light on the possible problem!

The symptoms are- remote control key not operating the locks..changed battery & tried re-setting it to the car....nothing!

The car only unlocks the drivers door with the key (or the passengers)...still no central locking!

However, if I'm sitting in the car & press the locking button thingy (beside the door opener handle) the central locking will operate!

Any pointers, clues or remedies greatly appreciated.

Does the LED on the key light up when you press the button? The buttons can fail.

Hi, there isn't an LED on the key. I reckoned it should still trigger the central locking using the key in the door?

Ah ok, didn't realise that!
If it's operating when you trigger it internally there may be a fault with the bsi or water damage to the connectors in the drivers footwell; have a search on bsi reset for starters.

Cheers teamster, I'v just had a look at the reset proceedure & I'll give it a try tomorrow, so fingers crossed!
