BP ULTIMATE DIESEL
Hi
Just put some of this in today as the mechanic said it has a bit of extra detergent in it. Have to say i am quite impressed. Seems like rocket fuel the 406 hdi (110) was pulling a lot better than it has been for a while. I had a flat spot at 60mph in 4th gear seems to have gone now.....
Anyone else used this diesel before?
Car passed the mot today all it needed was a new flexi hose brakes feel a lot sharper now.
Thanks
Marco

Re: BP ULTIMATE DIESEL
I've never tried it, but I'd be interested to hear if the benefit is sustained, or whether it reverts to normal if you go back to standard fuel.
Nice one with the MOT BTW

Re: BP ULTIMATE DIESEL
I'd be surprised if the fast feeling was anything more than psychological. I found there's a massive provable difference in economy between the worst unleaded on the market (Asda) and the best for the ES9J4 (BP Ultimate), but even so they feel the same behind the wheel, and I'm very sensitive to my car's characteristics
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: BP ULTIMATE DIESEL
I habitually use Tesco diesel in my 90Bhp, but was forced one day to use Shell V-Power, their top of the range one. My MPG DROPPED by 3 over the tankful. Similarly, having to use Morrisons i lost 1.5 MPG. I cannot detect any difference between any of them from the drivers seat. I use an Excel program to keep records of fuel use for my own interest and the comparison between brands
There must be a difference between these different fuels but I don't have a clue what it is and presumably some will work better in some engines and the other fuels better in other engines. Unless we have masses of data posted and then analysed it will just be a vase of individual trial and error.

Re: BP ULTIMATE DIESEL
There's a thread somewhere about Morrison's B30 biodiesel, which I've been using for three or four tanks now. It's topped up occasionally by regular diesel and/or chip fat from our deep fryer.
B30 gets the thumbs up from me. On Tesco value diesel, I was getting ~ 500 miles to a tank, B30 is easily giving me 600. And it's the same price as their regular stuff, and their prices are a couple of pence less than Tesco around here anyway. It's five miles out of my way to get there, but it's worth it IMO
On the side, her indoors (as some of you may know) is a merry can, and when she tells her family how many MPG we get from our (diesel) cars they can't believe it. I saw a Daily Show recently where some idiot republican was claiming it was a basic human right to drive a gas guzzler if one wanted to.

Even the advertising fails to deliver - it's supposed to show a video demonstrating improved mpg for ultimate diesel, but it links to one for unleaded....

Only joking fella

Actually when I used to use V-Power I thought the 110 used to pull much harder with less schmoke too. If the fuel has a higher cetane or octane rating then it should follow that if the car's sucking in the correct amount of oxygen then you'd get the old 'bigger bangs' in the combustion
