Hello,
Since getting my 406 (D8 2.0HDI 1999 GLX) it's darn remote central locking just doesn't work!
The batteries in the plip are good, and it lights up when you press the buttons, but it simply does nothing what so ever! I've tried syncing the key but that didn't work, the battery got disconnected for a few hours when we was working on the clutch, that didn't make any difference either!
Given the middle of the road setup on this 406 I've got no idea how the system actually works! it's not an IR system thats what I do know!
Thanks,
Phil

Re: Remote Central Locking
If it's never worked for you, I'll guess that it's not the car's original key

Re: Remote Central Locking
I'd guess you either need to get a new plip and have it sinked by Pug, or, if you're not into emptying your wallet at the stealer's, get a plip and receiver at the breaker's. Er, no, I don't know where it is
I'll bet someone here does though.

Re: Remote Central Locking
I should at this point mention it does not have a keypad immobilizer, instead a transponder in the key, wouldn't that make it the original key?

Re: Remote Central Locking
I should think either the transmitter in the plip's had it's chips or the receiver's gone haywire.

Re: Remote Central Locking
Captain Jack mentioned that this "D8.5" is probably fitted with a BSI, which would presumably control the Remote Central Locking if it is indeed fitted with a BSI?
I guess i'll have a smooch around the car to find a BSI and if so, follow the BSI reset procedure.
Other than that i'll deem it a lost cause, as messing around with the keys/modules etc etc is just more hassle than it's worth!
No, no, I know full well that I wont let it go, I'm far too anal for that! If it has it, it has to work god damn it!

Re: Remote Central Locking
It's easy enough to pull a transponder out of a key and glue it into another. have you got another key for the car? maybe that one is the correct one?kerman19 wrote:I should at this point mention it does not have a keypad immobilizer, instead a transponder in the key, wouldn't that make it the original key?

Re: Remote Central Locking
Annoyingly it's my only key! On the M1 up north at the moment so I'll have plenty of opportunity to investigate!
I've managed to get a copy of PP2000 on my laptop and my dad has all the required cables so I'll see what it's all about!
