I need some advice - I have just been replacing bulbs on my D8 dash, and now the odometer doesn't light up when the ignition is on. I have replaced the bulb with a standard 1.2w bulb AND a 2.3w bulb and it still doesn't light up.
Am I missing something here? is the bulb meant to be a higher wattage? I have had the whole of the speedo housing apart to see if it was a broken track and no breaks.
Any help or pointers would be apreciated - as after spending nearly £1000 at the stealers to get it back on the road, I really don't want to be going back to them SO soon!

Odd. Might be grease on the pcb. Take the dash out still connected and give the bulb holder a wiggle

You're over-thinking it here. The odometer light is always lit, just dimmed with the interior lighting active, so either you've got a bad (greasey or burnt) connection or maybe a dry solder joint. Being handy with a multimeter help. If in doubt, put a shout out for help here or any competent auto electrician will sort it in a few minutes

Now, going to the dealers, that was a bit of a mistake, no?
Hint: us on the forum know more than 99% of dealer techs
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Thanks MJB - tried the 'wiggle' still nothing, but one thing I did notice, the bulb looked like it had been soldered in place into the bulbholder - could this mean a REALLY dodgy connection that needed soldering to make connection, or just me being paranoid?
As for going to the stealers, the car had been sat for nearly three years, so LOTS of silly things gone wrong and siezed on it - I had no time to do all the fixes on it (need it for my Bro's wedding in two weeks) and had a starting and tickover fault that I could not fix (even after looking on here!!) so I think it was worth the money - well, it is my LONG TERM vehicle, and I love it to bits - if I had a partner i'm sure she wouldn't understand my obsession (actually......thinking about it......that may be the reason I DON'T have someone!!! )
I'll have a go with the multimeter tomorrow, see whats happening and come and see if you all can help decipher the readings!!
