Few ideas in this thread Kev
Could be the temp sensor giving strange readings as well causing it to idle high...
Actually thinking about it, check that the throttle actuator is returning fully home

UPDATE !!!!!
got another throttle housing etc with all the sensors cleaned the carbon off of everything looks like new but its a lot nippier on take off but still no change with the revs like i say when starting from cold idles sweet as a nut just when it gets hot to operating temp the revs sit between 2-2500 rpms and its really aggrivating me disconected the lambda sensor while the car was running that made it a 100 times worse so put it back on it has no problem whilst driving any other ideas to try ? cheers kev

My suggestion is to go to Maplins and get some cold spray. It's an aerosol can that rapidly cools whatever you spray it on. Get your car exhibiting these symptoms then start spraying each sensor in turn until you find what it is
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

found the map sensor took the plug off idle drops down to 1000-1200rpm does this mean my map sensor is duffed ?
