Hi my names Ant and I currently own a twin-V6 406 coupe. I'm on the verge of buying a 406 estate 2.0 HDI 110bhp as my economical car. Is there anything I should look out for when viewing it? I've read things about the DMF going; is there anyway you can tell if its on its way out or not, and also, how much does a soild flywheel typically cost (the car already has a brand new clutch)?
Thanks
Ant

It's the coupe club invasion!!!
The estate doesn't have anything specific to look out for, just the usual 406 problem areas.

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Hello Ant & Welcome
I've heard that a failing DMF shows up as more vibration when idling and 'snatchyness' when coming on & off the gas.

Seems to be standard practice, I gather they don't last much longer and it's a wise precaution.rudymanz wrote:would the dmf have been replace along with the clutch do you think?
