Can someone tell me what the recommended gear changing speeds are? Still trying to work out if some of my engine mounts are shot, due to some odd vibration-like noises.
OK, so 1st gear: 0mph
2nd gear: 10mph
3rd gear: 20 mph
4th gear: 35mph
5th gear: 45mph
Anything below those speeds in their respective gears results in quite a loud grumbling noise if I put my foot down. I am sure I could do 40mph in 5th before and, while I can, trying to accelerate from 40mph in 5th sounds like the engine is about to fall out from the bottom - although the vibration itself inside the cabin is fairly minimal. The same goes if I try to accelerate from 30mph in 4th.
Does this all sound normal?

Re: Gear changing speeds on HDI 110
Sounds similar to my 90HDi, bit sure if they have the same gear ratios?
I know if the engine mounts are worn the grumbling noise can be worse

Re: Gear changing speeds on HDI 110
Hi,
My 110 hdi definately doesnt like pulling in 5th at 40mph, 50 in 5th is fine though. Anything below 40 in 4th and 50 in 5th and it struggles.
Cheers

I was trying to have a crack at this earlier, staring down at my speedo I nearly didn't see the car pulling out on me
Wouldn't saying what revs do it for you be better?
