Time for an oil change?

Post by mjb »

If you've got an oil change coming up soon, I suggest you nip out to Halfords, who currently have 20% off 4 litre bottles of Castrol Magnatec, bringing it down to £21.50ish for 10W40

Nettos were selling Magnatec and Shell synthetic for pennies last time I was in there (I'd wandered in by accident thinking it was Fortnum and Masons, honest!).

Dealers seem to have the oil at the cheapest rate - something like £17 for a 5L Total Quartz 7000.

F*** off! I went from the dealers to Halfords... Argh!

Mind you, their gearbox oil went from the cheapest around at about £3/litre to the most expensive at about £10/litre, so I'd check before committing :)

I recently bought some synthetic 'box oil, and it was £7 a litre in the 1 litre bottles, or £12 for 5 litres in one big bottle. Pays to keep ones eyes open.

Halford recently had 20% of all total oils, so i bought quite a few of those as a few cars were needing servicing. Though they were 5L bottles, what good are 4L bottles? HDis need more than that anyway, means you have to buy a top up bottle too. Anyway, for my next lot of oil i went to halfords, but they didnt know what oil i needed for my car and so i went over the road to the dealer, who gave me exactly the right oil and for less than halfords wanted too. Around £21

Often the dealers can be cheaper than many othe places for oil.
