D9 Central Locking?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D9 Central Locking?

Post by Bailes1992 »

This has been going on for the best part of a year now with my Uncles '03 D9 HDi Rapier and has got to the extent that he can no longer lock the car.
Basically it started off if you locked it by the remote it would just open again. But now its even doign it with the key.
Anyone else had similar problems? Or Anyone know why this might be happeneing?

If the doors lock then immediately unlock, it's probably because the car believes that one of the doors (or the fuel flap) isn't closed properly.

If I am a bit quick and press the plip to lock the doors before my wife shuts her door, I hear "clunk-clunk" and the indicator lights flash on and off several times (normally, when the doors lock, the lights come on for a couple of seconds and then go off).

I don't know how to fix it though :cheesy: Hopefully one of the others will be able to help you with that.

To fix it you just need to work out which door's stopping it from locking, then determining if it's not actually locking, or if the microswitch has failed
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
