Weird pad wear?

Helo all,

Just put new pads and discs on the front of the Funbus and the wear on them was a bit strange to say the least.
Three of the four pads were left with about 5mm of friction material on them but the outboard offside pad only had about 1mm left on it.
The sliders are free and the piston returned no bother at all.

Any clues?

Enjoying having working brakes again, discs were a bit thin.

I don't understand why it happens, but I've had a few cars, with sliding calipers, that I've had long enough to do multiple pad changes. Often seen uneven pad wear, (but strangely not the same pad each time)!???

Doggy's theory of pad wear states the following:

1). Pads can last for over 50k miles of normal use, but unless checked immediately beforehand will wear out during 300 holiday miles.

2). The rate of pad wear increases exponentially as your MOT approaches.

3). In any set of pads, the wear sensors are always fitted to the pad(s) that last longest.

A failed spring took out the wiring for the pad wear sensor on that side is that an MOT failure?

Hi - The Pad sensors are not MOT requirement - they are only there for your info - they are not necessary - I dont know about peugeot but on BMW if the wires are not used / cut they will always display a message to say the pads are worn down when thet are not unless the sensors are fitted - But i just shorted out the sensor and dont get the message anymore on my BMW until i can get the sensor wires..

My mate had the same problem on his Hyundai santa fe 27000 on the clock had to change his pads because of uneven wear . I did mention to him that towing a caravan every weekend could be putting unnecessary strain on the brakes ?
