hdi electrics

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Er, not really. Does your car have a BSI?

Sounds like crud in the ignition switch to me! I'm not sure how it's connected to the barrel but several guys have had to change the barrel recently so they'll know :)

Early or late 1999, and have you just fitted a new stereo?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

The BSI would be above the fuse panel (or is it part of it?) near your right knee. The cables should have connectors which cause all sorts of problems if they get damp. Sorry I can't help you much with your problems, that sounds a bit of a nightmare. Maybe it would help to identify which relay it is you can hear clicking.
