HELP meeeeeeee please

ive just done an oil change but somehow ended up breaking what looks like a conection into the fuel filtre. can someone tell me this is please?
i started the engine and deisel went everywhere.
its situated above where the oil filtre is to the right on a HDI engine.
ive tried adding a picture but it wont let me, what format do the pictures have to be? so i can help a little more

Oops! Sounds like the fuel filter yes. New ones are over 50 quid from the stealer's, I don't think you can just buy the lid, or you could get one from the breakers but make sure you give if a good clean first. Btw there's two sorts - Bosch and Mahle, Bosch have a weird shaped seal on the top of the filter itself.
