I reckon it's all those dairy cows farting away that are to blame for global warming.

I've got 2kg of pig's hearts in the fridge here, he's welcome to a couple if it'll help him join the human race.

I've had loads of problems with bad membrane switches in remotes, so when they stop working I give the buttons a good heavy press, just in case.

I have 3 cats so... You can bath them in the toilet, just pop 'em in and put the lid down. Put shampoo in the cistern before you flush it, then when it's filled again flush it again to rinse. Or you can put them in a pillow case and bung 'em in the washing machine, hand wash only mind, you wouldn't want to injure tiddles :frown:

Easier said than done. Just the sight of water's enough to trigger the Claws Of Pain

I put a couple inch of water in the bathtub, use two hands to hold 'em there until they're exhausted, bring out the shower, wait until their renewed enthusiasm gives way to exhaustion, and only then hit the shampoo.

One of mine is big (fatass) and has *really* strong legs, so taking it slowly and carefully is the only way to avoid down-to-the-bone gashes in my arms

A better car? Good luck with that, they all have their foibles and I reckon you'd be better off getting to your fuel consumption issues.

The car is pulling, no smokes and seems to be ok, recently serviced. The trip computer says 34.5mpg, but i find this hard to believe as the miles totted up seem really low compared to fuel used. I'm looking at city driving, everytime i do a few miles (7 miles), the fuel indicater moves.

Is there anything i need to be checking???

So have you tried calculating it fill to fill yet? If you have reason to doubt the computer you really do need to check it before you start fiddling with anything else. I find the trip computer in mine very accurate, as I said before it's actually a bit pessimistic if anything.

Fuel gauges are notoriously innacurate, I had one BX that was always stuck on max 'til it was about half full, then it would visibly move to empty.

Do the math thing, don't worry about brimming it though 'cos that's a nuisance, all you need to do is fill it up from the same pump twice. Just wait for the nozzle to shut off once both times you do it and that should be more or less the same.

Oooh I wouldn't trust that Wiggy, I find the fuel sometimes froths up in the neck and shuts the pump off way before it's full. :?

That's why you use the same pump.

Surely you can't claim that the level of frothing is reliably repeatable or predictable  :|  Chaos theory anyone??

It depends on WAY too many variables - the sensitivity of the pump, the speed of the delivery (how many others are there on the forecourt), the angle of nozzle insertion, how hard you hold the handle, how hard you're pushing the nozzle into the car, temperature...

The easy and reliable way to brim it is to work with the pump handle. As your tank gets full (around 10 litres to go) you'll start to feel the handle push back. If you keep holding the handle all the way in, it'll click off at roughly 5 litres from full, but if you start to slacken your grip you lower the rate of delivery and when it clicks off at a dribble, your tank is reliably full (to a few ml)

Whenever I've tried it I've ended up with diesel everywhere. I just aint go the touch :(

Frothing does depend on the rate the fuel goes in, the pumps don't seem to do it here (especially when you park your car on the hose  )

Folks,

Another issue here.

Over the weekend i visited my parents and parked on their road, where the sides are at an angle and the driver side of the car was tilted lower. After teh visit, i noticed the fuel gauge was showing over half tank, previously it was showing 1/3 full. I thought this was because i was parked at an angle and it will reset it self when the car becomes level, well 3 days on and the gage is still showing over half tank but a bit lower due to me driving over the last few days???

Is this normal?

Hmm we've had sticking gauges before, usually filling past that point restores everything to normal, but since you say it's going down over the last few days I dunno if it's the same problem.
