That's the prices for brand new engines from the dealers. You can probably get a used one under 100,000 miles off ebay for about £300. Slap on your old manual box if it's an auto and bob's yer uncle

That's me told, I've spent all this time searching James' posts and I can't find anything specific, just "you can't" and "don't go there"mjb wrote:Nah same engines

Re: v6 engine problem
From what I've managed not to forget over the years all I can say is that it seems the only difference between an auto and a manual is the bell housing bit. The block is normally the same. Mind you we are talking about Peugeot's here so.......

Re: v6 engine problem
That was my thought, I've even done it a couple of times back in the day. Flywheel and crank spigot bearing, bell housings are generally part of the 'box... mjb's right though, Service Box lists one part number for both autos and manuals (but lists them seperately
)

It would be a joy, I imagine, to carry out a cambelt kit change on a V6 but on a bench in front of you

Re: v6 engine problem
"probably"
You won't find anyone willing to commit to a "definitely", but the blocks are the same part so we can't see why not. The only thing to watch out for is that you won't be able to slap an ES9J4S in place of an ES9J4 as there won't be anything to work the VVT actuators. Putting an ES9J4 in place of an ES9J4S could also have unexpected issues too

That would rule. I'm probably just going to let mine snap instead of trying to change it in situ with my tree trunk armsWelton wrote:It would be a joy, I imagine, to carry out a cambelt kit change on a V6 but on a bench in front of you

Re: v6 engine problem
Got any decent sized pictures of the engine out of the car? Always handy to see these things from different perspectives...
