Mjb, having now seen pictures of the V6 for the first time, I completely understand your reluctance to change the timing belt with the engine in the car.

I had no idea they were that difficult to get at.

Fairlight - keep the photos coming, this is an impressive project you're undertaking :)

thanks guys am getting stuck in from the 12th of feb so there will be lots of pics to come also there is going to be parts up for graps was going to brake the other engine and sell some bits of so if anyone wants to buy anything for spares let me know i will make a list of whats left the unichip in the pic is one of the parts am going to get rid of comes with the whole wiring loom as well :mrgreen:

hi chaps work starts in the morning with getting the old engine out will be uploading a load of pics of the on going work so keep an eye out am hoping to have the engine out and change the cam belt on the new engine by the end of tommorw wish me luck am gonna need lots of it lol :P

does many one know anything about the wiring loom on the v6 engine?
i have three plugs on the loom a black one orange one and a gray one on the new engine the black one is missing does anyone know what it does?
can upload a pic if it will help????

Where abouts are the plugs, how many pins, and most importantly, can you see any numbers printed on the wires to the plug?

all sorted now done some testing on the loom and it was not good so i striped my old loom off the old engine and put it on the new one.
today as been a pain in the arse i would have had the engine back in if i did not run into that problem with the loom also had to change loads of bits over but got the main work done new cam belt and water pump and i must say if anyones water pump should need replacing good luck coz it will be impossible with the engine in the car after the work i had to do to get it out turst me i know what am talking about i will upload some more pics from todays work engine should be in the car by monday just got some finshing touches to do on the new engine before it goes back in pics will be uploaded tommorw afternoon keep an eye out

Thank god I don't do jobs like that anymore :D
